Abstract	:	This thesis analyzes how matters traditionally decided by states because deemed strategicsuch as cross-border physical energy integration, are now the product of corporate strategy. As adirect result of state divestiture implemented in the scope of a changing model of po1oliticaieconomy, corporate bodies have taken on an inGfeaSingly tmportdnt role in the achievement ofregional integradon. The privatization and ownenhip transfer of a strategic industry, namelyenergy, has indeed positioned the private sector at the forefront of regional economic affairs.The study also points out the political impact of pdvate sector-driven proiects ofinfrastructure, particulady between mro countries that have been separated by strong antagonismin the recent past, the launching of regional energy integration by private companies hasprovided the substance that was lacking to governments, even though these were willing tooperate a capprochemen~ The parameters of foreip poliq decisions have been modifmi andrapprochement has been accelerated as a result of initiatives fbm the private sector.The thesis thus explores the links between the adoption of a neo-liberal politicaleconomy that includes the privatization of the energy sector, regional energy integration, andforeigp rdations. It analyzes how the nanslormation of transnational economic ties usuallyderived from decisions of state can now be the product of private business deals.
