Abstract	:	Novel Sr-based cuprate thin films were investigated to explore their potential asnext generation superconducting materials. Thin films of infinite-layer compound(Sr,Ca)Cu& (no blocking layer), cuprate oxyc~fbonate Sr2Cu02(C03) (carbonateblocking layer), and TI(Sr,Ba)2Ca,a,lC~nOy (n=2 and 3) (thin blocking layer) weresynthesized using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. The stnrcturr and defectchemistry of the blocking layers of these cuprate compounds were found to haveprofound effects on the transport properties both in the normal state and thesuperconducting state.Phase pure, epitaxial infinite-layer compound (Sr1,CaJCuO2 thin films were....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
