Abstract : This dissertation presents a variety of techniques for high efficiency transmittersthat may be usefbl in microwave and millimeter-wave power generation- First, the activeintegrated antema approach ( A h ) is applied to the push-pull power amplifier, allowingthe realization of a compact and highly eflicient transmitter with twice the availableoutput power of a single-ended design. This is particularly valuable because theefficiency of the dual-device amplifier is only limited by the efficiency of the antenna.The second technique reiies on a recently developed planar antenna referred to as the"quasi-Yagi antenna". The antenna is extremely efficient, compact and compatible withmicrowave and millimeter-wave electronics. It is therefore an excellent candidate for usein spatial power combining.
