Abstract	:	This work presents an investigation of the effects of radiation on the modefrequencies and thresholds of a concentric-circle-grating, surface-emitting (CCGSE)distributed feedback laser, and of the character of the beams emitted from such adevice. Near-threshold coupled-mode equations, valid for any grating shape anddepth, are derived including the effects of radiation for TE fields in lasers withsecond-order circular gratings.
