Abstract	:	The purpose of this research is to implement a hybrid travel time forecasting model for roadnehvorks with geographic information systems (GIs). GIs technologies have been deployed in thefollowing areas: ( I ) storing, retrieving, and displaying traffic data to assist in the forecastingprocedures, (2) integrating historical databases and road network data, and (3) building roadnetwork data. Two historical databases have been constructed for both highway and arterial roadnetworks, including highway trafic data from loop detectors and arterial trafic data fromroadside beacons. A hybrid forecasting system has been developed and tested using thesehistorical databases, from which traffic patterns could be delineated.Upon reviewing various forecasting methods that include historical profile approaches, timeseries models, neural networks, nonparametric....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
