Abstract	:	This paper details tho dosign and fabrication of an audiofrequency data acquisition and analysis system, and its subsequent use toinvestigate the qualitative effects of sampling rate and bit resolutionof streaming digital audio.The data acquisition system is fabricated in an industryatandard Peripheral Component Interconnect form factor and resideswithin a Personal Coaputer. In addition to the data conversion circuitry,the card also contains 256 Mbyten of data acquisition memory and a highperformance, floating-point Digital Signal Processor for (optional)real-time signal analysis of the sampled data. The host computer controlsthe overall operation of the data acquisition card and transfers sampleddata/streaming digital audio to and from the card. The host also performsthe non-real-time signal analysis of the sampled data and displays theanalysis results.
