Abstract : The hybrid Wind/Photovoltaic (PV) system was designed for theLowell National Historic Park maintenance shop. This grid-connectedsystem consists of PV panels. wind turbines, inverter. battery storage. andother components such as fuses, dc/ac disconnects and transformer. Sizingthe PV and wind turbines to fit on the roof was determined. The batterystorage and inverter were chosen to install in the maintenance shop building.The expected energy production was compared with data file fromUniversity of Massachusetts Lowell site. The four proposed PV systems andwind systems were analyzed to determine and compare their energyproduction. cost. and pay back period. The 20 KW PV system and 2.5 KWwind system were chosen to be the most effective and demonstratingrenewable technologies and reducing the electrical load of the maintenanceshop.....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
