Abstract	:	As today's aircraft get older, the wear on the internal components becomes moreof a concern. One of the major causes of distress in recent years is the condition of theelectrical wires that are used to control many of the functions of modem aircraft. Thesewires are not only of concern to the commercial airlines, but are thought to causeseveral incidents a month in the aircraft employed in the military.In order to overcome the problems that these wires are causing, a system isbeing developed at Utah State University that will enable the in situ testing of thewiring system of an aircraft. The research is being performed to find ways to detectwhen a wire has been shorted out or cut all together.
