Abstract	:	The advent of silicon chips has been one of the greatest revolutions in history.It is now possible to produce a die with millions of transistors on it so that a totalsystem can be produced on a single chip. Advancements have been made in developingchips which use both digital and analog circuits. A significant number of analogcomponents are used in real world systems. This necessitates an understanding of basicCMOS layout processes for the design of analog circuits, with special emphasis onanalyzing the power dissipation in the circuits. The operational amplifier is the basiccomponent used in many atlalog systems. Hence, this thesis is devoted to the design ofa version of this basic component. A CMOS operational amplifier has been designedand tested with operation in both inverting and non-inverting modes. Criteria for testingthe circuit are: stability analysis, Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), slew rateand large signal diffierential input transfer characteristics.
