Abstract	:	This thesis describes the design and implementation of the adaptive filters onTexas Instnunents (TI) TMS320C3 1 Digital Signal Processor (DSP). A Comelation leastmean square (LMS) algorithm is used in the design of the adaptive filter. The applicationof adaptive filter in noise cancellation is to produce an optimized estimate of the noiseand signal. Adaptive filter is necessary when a specific signal output is desired but thecoefficients of that filter cannot be determined at the output. This may be due to genuineuncertainty about the incoming signal or because it changes slightly with time orenvironment. An adaptive filter is one, which has coefficients, which are designed to varywith time in a tightly controlled manner, and intervention of the user. Assembly code iswritten based on the TMS320C31 architecture and is loaded into DSK @SF Starter Kitaand the performance of the filter is analyzed for different input noises by changingadaptation rate, smoothing factor and scale factor..-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
