Abstract : The major focus of this thesis is the effect of dielectric anisotropy within sandstoneon cross-borehole geophysical prospecting techniques. The applications include measuringanisotropy or locating conductive objects (metals). The Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method was used to accurately model fields propagating in the above-mentionedenvironment. This research indicates that the implementation of a tri-axial source and tri-axial receivers is best for measuring anisotropic properties within the host rock.
