Abstract	:	Supervising Professor Mo-Shing ChenThis thesis carries out an in-depth analysis of network CongestionManagement (CM) for the emerging deregulated power system with emphasis inTexas. One outcome of this work comprises a succinct recompilation of currentbasic industry/institutional documentation on the matter. The theoretical basis ofpower system congestion is discussed as well as the different CM methods as theyapply to actual utility cases. The Texas ERCOT system has been used as abenchmark to compute essential power market parameters.
