Abstract	:	Multiple sclerosis (MS), a well known disease of the nervous system in which themyelin sheaths of axons are damaged. may be imaged using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) modalities. In this research, image analysis. volume registration. and scientificvisualization techniques are applied for quantitative and qualitative analysis of theresponse of the disease to a proposed treatment regimen. Image analysis techniques areapplied. with the objective of automated and reliable quantitative evaluation of MSlesions in the brain, through segmentation and classification of the brain and MS lesions.To facilitate a time-series analysis of lesions, a volume registration technique is appliedto geometrically align MRI scans taken at different times over the course of treatment.Additionally, scientific visualization techniques are utilized to facilitate three-dimensional analysis of the disease pathology,-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
