Abstract	:	An open loop, OHz to 1200Hz,3-phase, AC Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) hasbeen developed to be used for multi-pole permanent magnet AC motors and ACinduction motors used in electric vehicles or aerospace applications. A market review forsuch a VFD concludes that "off-the-shelf' variable frequency drives that fit thisdescription and operate with a DC input are unavailable. A space vector generated PWMsignal controls the switches of a DC-AC inverter to deliver the 3-phase electrical energyto the stator windings of a motor using the constant V/Hz principle to calculate thereference space vector voltage.
