Abstract : Service Location Protocol (SLP) is designed for efficient service searching in alocal network environment. In real life, however, its application is expected to beextended to larger networks and even to the whole Internet. A number of changes andimprovements are thus needed to make it suitable for large networks.This thesis makes critical studies of the structure and transaction. Modificationand improvement have been designed and proposed so that SLP can work with otherexisting network protocols over larger networks.
