Abstract	:	The objective of the research was to develop a temperature control system for asix zone tube furnace. The f-ce was used to provide an isothermal temperature profileinside a packed bed reactor tube. The control system consisted of a Compaq Pentium IIIcomputer executing the control software and a programmable logic controller (PLC) withoptional Temperature Control Module (TCM). The TCM used an Autotune feature tocalculate PID coostants to manipulate the percent power applied to the individual heatersto control temperature in each zone.
