Abstract	:	Service Location Protocol (SLP) has been designed for use in local networks.However, its application has been seen in much larger networks like Wide AreaNetworks (WAN) and even the Internet. To make SLP scalable to larger networks,certain changes are needed in the basic design of the protocol. This thesis studies thestructure of SLP, and examines it from the point of view of scalability and security.
