Abstract : for inspecting and qualifying 473 nanometer frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser modules.These laser modules are inspected prior to their use in a diabetes screening instrumentthat has been developed and produced by SpectRx, Inc. As these laser modules aredestined for use on human subjects, it is essential that the basic operating parameters bequalified and be within the system design criteria. Only once the lasers have successfullypassed this inspection will they be installed in the diabetes screening product.It was the responsibility of the author to develop this testing station and theassociated testing procedures for the inspection of these laser modules. Secondaryconstraints on this test station development process were cost, individual unit test timerequirements and overall space requirements.
