Abstract	:	This thesis describes the design of a fully operational snow pack monitoring systemconcealed inside an artificial tree. Much of the watershed considered for this design lies withinthe Desolation Wilderness Area neat Lake Tahoe, California and supplies water to the LakeTahoe and T h e e Meadows areas. The National Wilderness Act forbids man-madesmctures in the protected forests. However, an exception may be made for the installation ofa properly concealed system. Establishing this hidden snow pack monitoring system to gatheruitical hydrological idomtion will provide a model for resource management on a nationalscaleThe Invisible SNOTEL will conceal sophisticated instruments.
