Abstract : As the more mobile robotics appear in both industriaf and commercialenvironments, the importance of mobile robotic safety increases. This thesisdemonstrates how to interface three different kinds of sensors to a microcontroller formobile robotic safety including a pyroelectric sensor, a triangulation distance-measuringdevice, and an ultrasonic distance-measuring device. Preliminary tests of sensorcharacteristics were conducted and some limitations of these sensory technologies wereidentified.
