Abstract : SingIe chip chemical analysis systems hold the potential to benefit many fields ofscience. Some of the most notable benefits will occur in health care. Such devices willprovide the ability to perform complex diagnostic testing faster and with Iess cost than iscwenly possible. In this thesis, methods to develop such a device are explored. Thefabricated device was designed to use electroosmotic ب‌پ‍low as a method to move fluidthrough the system, capillary electrophoresis to separate sample compounds andelectrochemical detection to determine the sample composition. The device uses Coming 7740 glass as a substrate material. Several differentetching chemistries were used to form channels in the 7740 glass along with two differentmetal masking layers. The method..,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
