Abstract : The Global Positioning System (GPS) is used internationally as a means foraccurate, world-wide, all-weather positioning and navigation based on signals transmittedfrom a consteilation of GPS satellites. User receivers acquire the signals of dl GPSsatellites in view and track their ranging signals, which are used to calculate the userposition.The acquisiiion and tracking functions, of a GPS receiver are developed andvalidated by analysis and simulation. This thesis focuses on the signal processing sectionof the receiver, specifically the Phase-Lock Loop (PLL) and Delay-Lock Loop (DLL),which are key to acquisition and tracking.
