Abstract	:	A typical fast Food establishment will generate between SO to 150 gallons/week ofused cooking oil. It can be converted to energy using the s t e m reforming/fucl cellssystem. The objective of this investigation was to obtain a bolter understanding of thesteam rcfom~ing rcaction using used cooking oil. Emphasis was given to productidenti ticat ion and hydrogen gcnerat ion. Around 300 compounds of smaller molecularsize were obtaincd by ihcrn~al decon~posit ion at atmospheric pressure. At pressuresbetween 80 and 170 psi. Formation of Cis by-products was hvored by thc stcam-reforming rcaction. Modcl dcvclopment for the catalyst activation prcdicts thctcnipcraturc outlet gas with a relative crror of 1.22 . Minimum prcssurc required tocompletely actiwtc the catalyst at scveral tcmpcraturrs and amount of catalyst is alsopredicted by thc model.
