Abstract	:	A novel bar code scanner that uses plane difEiaction gratings on a flat rotating diskas the means of flyingspot laser scsnning is designed and implemented. The designincorporates diffraction gratings that provide large angles of diffraction so that thelines generated in the bar code target region have sufficiently large radii for scanningmost bar codes.
