Abstract	:	A brief history of the Casimir Effect will be given. Derivations of the Casimirforces will be made using both sum-of-modes techniques and the van der Waals a ppraximati~n by Hamiltonian second-order perturbation methods. This will be donefor conducting parallel plates, a vacuum sphere, a vacuum bubble, and acubical cavity. New techniques will be demonstrated for finding the Casimir forces ofa cubical cavity. Some applications, both experimental and theoretical, of the CasimirEffect will be discussed.
