Abstract : Exchanging the extracellular solution of the cell rapidly (in <10ms)) is animportant requirement in applications that study the kinetics of cell physiology. Thisthesis attempts to achieve this by using microfluidic devices fabricated by replicamolding of poly(dimethylsi1oxane) (PDMS) against a silicon master. The devicesexchange the solution around the cells as they flow through a junction created by theintersection of two 30pm wide microfluidic channels.
