Abstract	:	In this thesis, we will focus on spin tunneling in a family of systems called magneticmolecules such as Fe8 and Mnlz. This is comparatively new, in relation to othertunneling problems. Many issues are not completely solved and/or understood yet.The magnetic molecule Fe8 has been observed to have a rich pattern of degeneraciesin its magnetic spectrum. We focus on these degeneracies from several points of view.We start with the simplest anisotropy Hamiltonian to describe the Fe8 moleculeand extend our discussion to include higher order anisotropy terms. We give analyticalexpressions as much as we can, for the degeneracies in the semi-classical limit in bothcases. We reintroduce jump instantons to the instanton formalism.Finally, we discuss the effect of the environment on the molecule.
