Abstract	:	Applications in the field of computer vision employ computers to assist in tasks whichrequire interpretation of visual information. This thesis addresses laboratoryexperiments at an insect laboratory which grows insect larvae to study the effects ofbiotech insecticidal proteins on insects. A computer vision algorithm processes digitalphotographs of experiments with the intent of classifying the insects as alive or dead,and classifying their larval instar stage.
