Abstract	:	The purpose of this thesis is to develop a control algorithm that producesdiffraction patterns ideal for writing gratings on optical fibers. We make useof computer simulation and control to achieve this goal. A moving opticalfiber is impinged by a laser beam and a diffraction pattern is produced onthe charge-coupled device. The intensity distribution of the diffraction patternis traced out as a function of position along movement of the fiber. The idealdrffraction pattern is realized when the fiber is in the center of the beam.Depending on fiber position, the control process decides on the direction ofmovement towards the ideal diffraction pattern.
