Abstract	:	The performance of real-time transmission such as voice over data networks is notmeasured by throughput, but by the delay time that the network imposes on the voicepackets. Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is the latest technology introduced tohandle the convergence of voice and data networks. This thesis presents a detailed modelanalysis and simulation of MPLS for handling voice packets. From the models presentedin this thesis, it can be observed how an MPLS switch segregates voice packets from datapackets to achieve prioritized queuing. This technique would potentially minimize thedelay time for voice packets.
