Abstract	:	This dissertation reports on an investigation into how Perceptually Indistinguishable Ob-jects (PIOs) can be identified. An experiment with 68 human participants was performedto investigate how and how well people identify PIOs. The experiment was designed as aprotocol analysis experiment. Participants performed a video-game like task of counting orfollowing, both of which entail identifying objects. The analysis of this experiment showsthat the human participants had a marked preference for certain situations that they believedhelped them identify the PIOs more readily.
