Abstract	:	This thesis describes electron spin dynamics in the presence of nuclear spin polarizationin Alo,lGao,9As/GaAs quantum well (QW) structures. The spin-polarized electrons areelectrically injected from an Fe contact into the Alo,lGao,9As/GaAs heterostructure,where they interact with lattice nuclei via the hyperfine interaction. These interactionstransfer some of the electron spin polarization to the nuclear spin system, which inturn acts back on the electron spin system as an effective magnetic field. This effectivemagnetic field significantly alters the electron spin precession and hence the steady-state electron spin.
