Abstract	:	This thesis explores manifestations of spin and pseudospin ferromagnetism in inter-acting tn-o-diinensioiial electron systems (2DESs) confined to AlAs quantuni wells(QTTTs). Our study has been motivated by tlie ideality of the AlAs system for theexploration of paramagnetic and ferroniagiietic phases related to discrete degrees offreedom, iilcluding spin. valley. and layer.Bulk AlAs has ail indirect band gap with three degenerate conduction band niin-iina located at tlie X points of the Brillouin zone.
