Abstract : The ocean color as observed near the water surface is determined mainly bydissolved and particulate substances, known as "optically-active constituents," in theupper water column. The goal of ocean color modeling is to interpret an ocean colorspectrum quantitatively to estimate the suite of optically-active constituents near thesurface. In recent years, ocean color modeling efforts have been centering upon threemajor optically-active constituents: chlorophyll concentration, colored dissolved organicmatter, and scattering particulates. Many challenges are still being faced in this arena. This thesis generally addresses and deals with some critical issues in ocean colormodeling....,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
