Abstract : The analysis of chiral materials has been an important topic in computationalelectromagnetics. Numerical analysis of chiral materials has been carried out using avariety of numerical methods, such as the method of moments (MoM), the finitedifferencetime-domain (FDTD) method, boundary value solutions (BVS) and so forth. Inthis dissertation, the finite difference frequency domain (FDFD) formulation has beendeveloped for chiral materials analysis, and the validity of the formulation has beenproved by comparing the numerical results to exact and other available solutionswhenever possible. The development of the formulation starts with the scattering of planeelectromagnetic waves by three-dimensional objects. Simplification of the threedimensionalformulation to two and one dimensional problem formulations is carried outin subsequent sections.
