Abstract	:	Hydrogen is by far the most abundant element in the universe and it is thethird most abundant element on earth. Today, it is the most promising energycarrier. The annual consumption of hydrogen is approximately 400 million cubicmeters worldwide. As the emission from Hp powered engines consists of onlywater, it presents some hopes for the world to avoid a mean global warming of atleast 2 OC by the mid 21St century due to the greenhouse effect. Besides its useas a fuel, hydrogen can be a part of the process in chemical, food, andsemiconductor industries. The real time measurement of hydrogen concentrationis important in process control. Hydrogen, as the lightest element, dispersesrapidly in atmosphere and is explosive in a wide range of 4 - 75 vol in air witha self ignition temperature 510 OC.
