The human eye is extraordinary in its ability to collect information with hugebandwidth and high resolution. The retinas provide an efficient means for gatheringinformation by providing a parallel fan in of the optical data. The eye is remarkable in itsability to adapt and focus on objects in a rapidly changing environment. Any electronicdevice that can emulate the human eye will be an invaluable tool for surveillance anddetection.Present day image sensors are based on charge coupled devices (CCD) andcomplimentary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices [I].
