Abstract	:	The theory of general relativity unies gravitation with the geometry of spacetimeby replacing the scalar Newtonian gravitational potential with the symmetricmetric tensor g of a four-dimensional general Riemannian manifold bymeans of the equivalence principle. As is well known, the electromagnetic eldhas resisted all eorts to be interpreted in terms of the geometrical propertiesof space-time as well.
