Abstract : Direct methanol fuel cells require membranes with the dual properties of highproton conductivity and low methanol crossover. New membranes need improvedselectivity: i.e., a higher ratio of proton conductivity to methanol permeability. Theapproach taken in this research involves a proton conducting polymer membrane loadedwith proton conducting, methanol impermeable zeolites. In this scenario, protons travel adirect path through both the polymer and zeolite phases, while methanol has a moretortuous path around the zeolite particles.tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
