Abstract : A new concept for spin-resolved scanning tunneling microscopy (SR-STM) ispresented. The probe, a carbon nanotube, is contacted with two oppositelymagnetized ferromagnetic electrodes. A maximum asymmetry of the two currents ofabout 16 is expected, which could be m h e r improved when half-metallicferromagnets are used. Devices were fabricated that consist of a multiwall nanotubeconnecting two ferromagnetic electrodes.
