Abstract : Magneto-t ransport. magnetic and structural properties of three nanost ructured sys-tems: ( I ) single-crystal bismuth films with and without antidot arrays made by elec-trodeposition, (2) epitaxial half-metallic Cr02 films made by chemical vapor depo-sit ion ( CVD ) . and ( 3) exchange-coupled Co/FeMn/permalloy trilayers prepared bymagnetron sputtering are presented.Singlecrystal Bi thin films have been made by electrodeposition followed by suit-able annealing. X-ray diffraction verifies that the films are trigonal axis orientedsingle-crystal films. High resolution transmission electron microscope reveals the ex-pected sis-fold symmetry of the atomic structure of Bi(001) films. These films exhibitvery large magnetoresistance (MR) at both low temperature and room temperature.tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
