Abstract	:	This thesis conducts a study of the background and motivation for the use ofActive Contour methods in Image Registration problems. The strengths and weaknessesof various approaches are enumerated. A new initialization scheme based on the ConvexHull of the Region of Interest is suggested. The proposed scheme is applied to theprevalent Active Contour methods, and the results are presented..
