Abstract	:	Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery has emerged as one of the most promising areasfor research over the past decade. However in many real world problems, mining algo-rithms have access to massive amounts of data. There are two fundamental challengesof dealing with these datasets. The first one is to reduce the amount of time it takes forthe mining algorithm to execute, given the size of the dataset as the input. The secondchallenge is to improve the performance of the learner in terms of assigning unseeninstances to a known class or set, based on feature values.The first part of our research shows that mining all the available data is prohibitive dueto computational.
