Abstract	:	In comparison to the nonresidential applications, the situation with the residentialcooling load calculation is somewhat different because of some unique features inherentin residential buildings.Load patterns of residences differ significantly from those of commercialstructures because of different building scale, construction, occupancy, and controls.Compared to commercial or industrial buildings, residential buildings are usually smaller,and their constructions usually have less thermal mass (product of mass and specificheat). Loads from the residential envelope usually compose a much greater fraction of thetotal building load. The internal heat gains of residences, especially those from occupants.
