Methods that exploit the characteristicsof the HVS include the direct binary search (DBS) and optimized tone-dependenthalftoniiig approaches. The spatial seiisitivity of the HVS is lowpass in nature. re-flecting the phj-siological characteristics of the eye. Several HVS models have beenproposed in the literature. among them. the broadlj- used Nasaiien's expoiientialniodel. As shown experinientally by Kim and Allebacli.
